New Cell Tower Site - Dairy Farm Greeley
L & M Underground works with cell tower construction contractor to lay the groundwork for a new cell tower at a Dairy Farm in Greeley. We utilized directional boring to install the 900 linear feet of 3” electrical conduit and 1300 linear feet of 4” communication conduit needed to feed the new cell tower. Directional boring was the best excavation to reduce disruption to critical dairy operations and to avoid disturbing local residents, a friendly herd of cattle. Before proceeding with any excavation, boring or trenching, it is necessary to call in 811 locates. Upon discovering our bore would be crossing a gas line in the cattle pen. We proceeded with utility potholing using a Vermeer trailer mounted vacuum to determine the depth of the gas line. The cattle were quite inquisitive about this operation, however, we were able to plan the bore depth to avoid the gas line and avoid opening a trench in the pen. Since we were pulling two pipes into the same bore hole, we used a 10” reamer to open the bore hole up to facilitate pulling both pipes in place. Once boring was complete, we set utility vaults and pulled 3 way inneduct into the communications pipe and blew in mule tape. The project was completed in 4 days.
